Restriction: Write a ten word science fiction story.
Ten is a rough limit, because it encourages you to dispense with articles. But when you do that, the flow of a sentence has to be defined only by syllable rhythm and punctuation. That is rough stuff. I always want one more word, one article, one key adjective… the ten-word limit strikes them all down.
